A Few Things Worth Knowing Before You Book

We want to be straightforward with you — because we think honesty is the best way to make sure your appointment goes smoothly for everyone.
Please Arrive on Time
This one is important — and we don't always know how to bring it up in person, so we're saying it here.
When a client arrives 15 or 20 minutes late, it puts us in a really difficult position. We want to do a great job on your hair. We also have clients booked after you. If we run over, we're either rushing your service, cutting something out — like a shampoo — or keeping the next person waiting through no fault of their own.
For a Men's Haircut booked in a 30-minute slot, a 20-minute late arrival means we physically cannot do the service properly. In those cases, we may have to reschedule.
We're not saying this to be difficult. We're saying it because we want to give you — and every client — the time and attention you deserve. That only works if we can stay on schedule.
If you're running late, please text us as soon as you can. Even five minutes' notice helps.
No-Shows
We don't currently charge a cancellation fee. We never want someone to feel they have to come in unwell, or stress about a genuine emergency.
But no-shows — where clients simply don't appear with no message at all — are a real challenge for a two-person salon. That time cannot be filled at the last minute.
For now, we send a confirmation message before each appointment. If we don't hear back, we may release the slot. If no-shows continue to increase, we may introduce a prepayment requirement for new client bookings. We'd rather be upfront about that now than surprise anyone later.
If something comes up, please let us know as early as possible — even a quick text is enough. 💛
Perms, Straightening & Colour Correction
These services require a little preparation before you arrive.
If you are new to us and interested in a perm, permanent straightening, or colour correction, please contact us before booking. We may ask you to come in for a separate consultation, or to send us clear photos of your hair to gayahairsalon@gmail.com before your appointment.
Hair history — previous colour, chemical treatments, condition — affects what is safely possible. We would rather know beforehand than have to turn you away on the day.
If you have had black dye or multiple colour processes, please get in touch before booking any colour service. A strand test may be required.
We know this adds a step. But it protects your hair — and makes for a much better experience all round.
